Phone system for remote and hybrid teams

When people work from home, the office phone tends to be the first thing that breaks. The main number rings at an empty reception desk, staff hand out personal mobile numbers, and customers no longer know which number reaches whom. Managers lose sight of who is answering, and a call meant for the team ends up depending on one person.

CorePBX is an IP PBX that can be cloud-hosted or on-premise. Because extensions are managed centrally, an extension belongs to a person and not to a desk. The company number stays the same, and calls are routed to the team through an IVR, hunt groups and call queues wherever its members are working.

01

One company number, wherever people sit

Extension Management lets an administrator create, change and reassign extensions without visiting a desk. A remote employee keeps the same extension and callers keep dialling the same published number, so personal mobile numbers stay private and nothing has to be reprinted when someone changes location.

02

Routing calls to a distributed team

The IVR Designer sends callers to the right department before anyone picks up. Hunt Groups ring several team members together or in turn, and Call Queues and ACD hold callers until someone is free. A call to sales or support therefore reaches the team, not a single home worker.

03

Messages and meetings without the office

Voicemail to Email delivers a recorded message to the employee's inbox, so it is seen even when no desk phone is nearby. Conference Bridges give teams a dial-in room for group calls. The Missed Call Service keeps a record of callers who rang off, so someone can call them back.

FAQ

Common questions

How does an office phone system work for remote employees?

The phone system holds the extensions and routing rules centrally, and each employee has an extension that is not tied to a desk in the office. Calls to the company number are routed to that extension by the rules you set.

Can remote staff keep the office number?

Yes. Callers continue to dial the company number, and CorePBX routes the call through the IVR, hunt groups or queues to the right person.

What happens to calls nobody answers at home?

Hunt Groups can pass the call to a colleague, and Voicemail to Email sends any message left to the employee's inbox. The Missed Call Service helps the team follow up with callers who hung up.

Do we need a server in the office?

Not necessarily. CorePBX can be cloud-hosted or on-premise, so a team with no fixed office can choose the hosted option. Which phones or devices suit your staff is something we confirm with you during scoping.
